Sunshine Fionah Komusana is an Afrikan Feminist, lawyer, award winning blogger and activist. She is the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Associate at Akina Mama wa Afrika. Sunshine utilizes her feminist politics and frame of analysis to contribute to the liberation of women in Africa, specifically, advocating for freedom from violence and the systems that enable violence against women.
Sunshine believes that violence against women and girls thrives because the current justice system is colonial, patriarchal, and was designed to perpetuate further violence. She believes the system requires an overhaul, replaced with alternative, survivor centered approaches to justice.
She has experience providing legal aid services, advocating for freedom from violence for women, and research in a private law firm, the World Bank Uganda Country Office and the Legal Department of the Central Bank of Uganda.
Sunshine’s career goal is to sit on the bench as a judge of the High Court of Uganda. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Uganda Christian University (UCU)-Mukono and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre- Kampala.
