Najjuko Joanita is a Pan-Africanist and feminist activist who is passionate about social justice with several years’ experience in advancing gender equality through grassroots and online activism, research, programme development, and capacity building of young feminists and social justice activists. She holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Makerere University School of Law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. She has outstanding leadership, organization and communication skills. Her roots in feminist movement building were planted at Makerere University where she led a campaign against sexual harassment faced by girls at the University and founded a student-led movement, Hub4Her, which seeks to address sexual and gender-based violence faced by students at universities across Uganda. Since then she has served in various leadership capacities and is currently the Programme Associate- Economic Justice and Climate Action at Akina Mama wa Afrika. Drawing from her legal background, Joanita is dedicated to being an agent for social change and transformation, changing mindsets along with using the law as a legal basis for ensuring justice.
